AWCON 2018: Ghana retains WAFU-winning squad for Japan friendly

Black Queens squad to face Japan

Coach Mercy Tagoe Quarcoo has retained the squad that clinched the WAFU Women’s Cup last month for the MS&AD Cup friendly againt Japan.

Quarcoo has made just one change to the title-winning squad with Ampem Darkoa’s skipper Justice Tweneboah being brought in for Faustina Ampah.

Ampah is back to club duty at the reigning Belarusian champions FC Minsk.

This is a contrast to the new-look Japan side set to face Ghana that was unveiled last week.

The 18-player squad is set to leave Ghana on Tuesday 27 March for the Sunday 1 April friendly.

This will be Ghana’s third friendly against the world’s to-ranked nations after Germany in 2016 and France in 2017.

They will be using the friendly to prepare for the 2018 Africa Women’s Cup of Nations.

Former World Champions Japan will be using the friendly to fine-tune ahead of the Asian Women’s Cup next month.
