Tiret Corporate are the 2017/18 winners of the Ethiopian Women’s Super League.
The Bahir-Dar based team sealed the win in June with three games in hand to return to the topflight league.
They stunned heavy favourites Ethiopian Coffee, Addis-Ababa City and Ethiopian Youth Sport Academy to clinch the title.
Tiret Corporate complete the season with 66 points, 12 points ahead of second-placed Arbaminch City.
The duo secure promotion to the Ethiopian Women’s Premier League (EWPL) alongside third-placed Addis-Ababa City.
Wrapping the promoted teams is Tirunesh Dibaba Sport Academy who finished fourth on 44 points, four behind Addis-Ababa City.
Recently-founded Tirunesh Dibaba Sport Academy will be the sole debutants in the EWPL next season.
The club—named after the long-distance, three-time Olympic champion Tirunesh Dibaba— achieved promotion in their first season ever.
The other three will be returning to the top-tier just a season after they suffered relegation following the introduction of the second division.
This first season of the second-tier featured 14 teams, with four getting promoted but only two from the top-tier will be relegated.
The idea is to increase the teams in the topflight league from the current 10 to 12 starting the 2018/19 season.
Therefore, come next season, only two teams will be promoted and two relegated while the number of teams in the second-tier is set to be increased to 16.
