Thika Queens will host in-form Trans Nzoia Falcons at the Thilka Sub County Stadium on Saturday as the Kenya Women’s Premier League picks pace following the end of the AWCON 2018 qualifiers break.
Thika, top of the standings with 39 points from 13 matches, will be looking to protect their unbeaten run against the Falcons.
The former two-time Kenyan champions come to the match on the backdrop of an emphatic 4-0 win over Spedag in mid-week.
But they will be cautious of the Justine Okiring-coached Trans Nzoia who have had a brilliant debut season.
Among the giants slayed by the league debutants are the defending champions Vihiga Queens who fell 2-1 to the Kitale side.
Players to watch
Mwanahalima Adam, who joined Thika Queens from Mombasa Olympic at the start of the season, has been a great asset for the side looking to reclaim the title.
Adam, on 17 goals, having scored in all 13 Thika matches so far, will be poaching goals upfront alongside last season’s topscorer Mercy Achieng on 14 goals.
Thika’s budding forward Christine Kitaru has also been on song this season, amassing an impressive 10 goals.
Trans Nzoia will be steered by their topscorer Tumaini Waliaula, another contender for the Golden Boot,
The lanky forward has scored 19 goals, a goal shy of the leading topscorer Vihiga Queens’ playmaker Teresa Engesha.
