Holders USA flogged rivals Mexico 6-0 while Panama beat Trinidad and Tobago 3-0 as the Concacaf Women’s Championship got underway on Thursday night.
Megan Rapinoe and Alex Morgan scored a brace apiece as Mexico provided little resistance in what was to be the match of the day.
Julie Ertz and Tobin Heath scored the other goals for the reigning World Champions eyeing an eighth successive World Cup berth.

Meanwhile, Marta Cox, Kenia Rangel and Erika Hernandez were on target for Panama in the tournament opener.
Panama, looking to replicate their men’s side that made their World Cup debut in Russia 2018, are playing in the continental showpiece for the first time since 2006.
